I wanted to give a quick update on how Otto is doing. He asked me to give a big shout-out to all of his supporters and thank everyone in advance for sending well wishes and care packages loaded with yummy biscuits.
On to the update. Hank and I have noticed some blood spots which could have come from his urine. If he’s having another bleeding episode, then the Yunnan Baiyao herb seems to be taking care of it. He’s also been in some discomfort, so he’s taking Tramadol 3 times a day. His underside is very itchy, which is a big concern to everyone. In December 2014, we witnessed the same behavior and took him to the Hope Center for an ultrasound which led to his cancer diagnosis.
Yesterday, on Thursday February 19th, he had his third chemotherapy treatment at the Hope Center in Vienna. He didn’t have any side effects from the treatment and emerged full of energy. He’s had some ups and downs but his doctor says he’s doing ok. After the treatment, he wanted to run the W & OD trail. I wasn’t sure what he was talking about, so he just told me to follow him. He’s very fast and never seems to slow down. It was really cold and probably not a good thing to run so fast with his weakened immune system, but sometimes you’ve got just let that pony run.
On the ride home, Otto reminded everyone that it’s National Love Your Pet Day, so he wanted to know when he’d be getting a bully stick and Frosty Paws to celebrate the occasion. If we judged everything by his appetite, we’d say he’s in great health.
I can’t wait until the warmer weather arrives, so we can tear up the trails together.
